"Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor put their hope in wealth. Which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds and to be generous and willing to share. In this way, they will lap up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life." 1 Timothy 6:17-19 (NIV) Enjoyment, like enjoying the things I like? Sorry, no. Enjoyment and willing to share, stuck out to me. What was Paul meaning when he used these phrases? In my Study Bible's cross-reference, Acts 14:17 - "Yet he has not left himself without testimony. He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons, He provides you with plenty of food and feels you heart with joy." Our Enjoyment is our provider! God, and how He provides for us! Willing to share, like how I did as a child? Reluctantly sharing my toys and cookies with other? Sorry, no. Romans 12:8,13 - "If it is encouraging, let him encourage, if it is contributing to the needs of other, let him give generously, if it is leadership, let him govern diligently, if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. ...Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality." Willing to share. Share your encouragement, that's Jesus! Encourage other's Contribute to their needs. Give generously. Govern diligently. Show mercy cheerfully and practice hospitality. Continuing to focus on a life-style of Kingdom Generosity, which is this month's Prayer Emphasis. Enjoy what He provides, for all you have is to glorify His Name, and share that with others! Be encouraged, HE sits on the throne! Alicia Villa, FCC Women's Ministry Leader
