A Shot of Literary Caffeine: Sipping on Words of Devotion
Our Worship Should be a Response of Surrender and Trust to Faithfulness and Goodness.
Worship is not just singing about God; it is surrendering to God.
True worship breathes only where trust is alive, because we cannot praise the Lord while still clutching control.
Psalm 4:5 ties sacrifice to trust: “Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.” and Proverbs 3:5–6 calls us to lean wholly on the Lord rather than on our own understanding. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.” Worship, then, is not a performance, but a posture: hands open, heart exposed, eyes fixed on the One who is worthy.
Consider Psalm 56:3–4:
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you… In God I trust and am not afraid.”
David does not begin with triumph; he begins with trembling. And that is where many of us stand as we enter worship. But notice the movement: fear is met with trust, trust is anchored in God’s word, and praise rises like a song from that steadiness. Worship, then, becomes the echo of a heart learning to rest.
In the midst of worrying thoughts, distracted minds, and fragile emotions, worship reorients us. It reminds us that God is wise, good, and faithful—that His presence is greater than our circumstances. As Psalm 145:13 declares, “For Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. You rule throughout all generation. The LORD always keeps His promises; He is gracious in all He does,” (NLT). The Lord is trustworthy in all He promises and faithful in all He does; our songs are the echo of His reliability.
When we truly trust God, our worship becomes honest. We bring fear, sorrow, and questions into the room instead of locking them away. We come with raw honesty, knowing that He welcomes what we carry. At the same time, worship becomes courageous. We praise Him not because life is clear, but because He is trustworthy. We sing not because we have all the answers, but because we know the One who holds them. And in that moment, worship becomes surrender: a quiet release of our grip on control and a conscious decision to rest in His hands.
So let worship be your language of trust—
a song that says, “Lord, I trust You more than my own understanding,
more than my fears, more than my plans.”
Let it be the place where faith speaks louder than fear,
and where the heart discovers that to worship in trust
is to find the only true peace.

June-July Schedule & OPT-OUT
TODAY I wrote the ‘PROPOSED’ Schedule for June & July here is a link to it. If you do not have access to it, send me a text.
I’ve also added an FCC Worship Event Calendar & an FCC OPT-OUT Calendar. With the OPT-OUT Calendar you should have permissions to add any future dates that you know you will be gone. This way, when you are planning way ahead, you can put it right on the Calendar and I’ll get it.
Hopefully the easy access will make everything more fluid for all of us.
Here’s the Link to the FCC Worship Events Calendar.
Here is the Link to the FCC OPT-OUT Calendar.
These are both published with Google Calendar. If you have problems viewing it, it may be because you don’t have a gmail account. If that becomes a problem I will maybe look at moving all our Calendar needs to the Planning Center Calendar. More on that to come.
Thanks so much!
-Sam
Also I added both Calendars below. But to add dates, you will need to follow the link since you have permissions that the public does not have.
Special NOTES
MARK YOUR CALENDAR:
JULY FINAL FRIDAY
July 31st: N.O.W. in the PARK
First of all: We will be canceling N.O.W. in JUNE, because that Friday will be the final night and celebration night for VBS.
JULY we will be taking advantage of the summer weather and having open worship at the park. We just planned this so more info will follow.
- I’ll get with everyone who will be singing and playing.
- We’ll talk about what it will look like.
- I’ll connect with Jeff for the best way to set up speakers, mics, and sound plans.
- We’ll print off all the worship music in a handout similar to our church handout.
